SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

The National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) is charging forward into the fall season and we hope your school year is off to a good start. From scholarships applications and the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Portfolio Project, to the National Hereford Queen applications, the excellence of Hereford juniors will be rewarded this fall.

Each year, the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) offers more than $200,000 worth of scholarships, and the largest giveaway happens during the American Hereford Association (AHA) Annual Meeting and Educational Forum. With more than $160,000 in scholarships given out this fall, we look forward to welcoming NJHA members to Kansas City and rewarding all the fall HYFA Scholars.

New this year, the Western States Hereford Association has moved their scholarship application to Submittable and it is housed alongside the other HYFA fall scholarships. The John Ascuaga Scholarship and Willard Wolf Memorial Scholarship are offered to those who are members of the Western States Hereford Associations and will be given out at the Western States Hereford Show in Reno, Nev., in December.

Applications for fall HYFA scholarships will be due on Sept. 1. through Submittable, and the Western States Hereford Scholarships will be due Nov. 1. through Submittable.

JUNIOR MEMBERS INVITED TO ATTEND THE 2023 AHA ANNUAL MEETING AND EDUCATIONAL FORUM

All NJHA Members are invited to attend The 2023 AHA Annual Meeting and Education Forum, Oct. 19-22, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, Mo. Friday, Oct. 20, from 5:30-7p.m., NJHA members are invited to a special event, the NJHA Meet-up: Building on Confidence, Community and Connection. Get together with your peers at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown and continue to grow your network. More information will be coming soon.

During this event, Hereford juniors will be recognized at the NJHA Youth Awards Luncheon that showcases scholarship recipients as well as winners of the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout. NJHA members will take center stage in Hale Arena during the American Royal National Hereford Show and the 2024 National Hereford Queen will be crowned. In addition to all of these activities, there will be an NJHA Meet Up on Friday evening for any junior members who make the trip to Kansas City.

NJHA Fed Steer Shootout educational finalists will compete on Oct. 19, for the title of high junior in their respective age division. To learn more about the AHA Annual Meeting and to pre-register for the various events, please visit, https://hereford.org/events/annual-meeting/.
