KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) Faces of Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Hereford Youth Foundation of America, drew 89 NJHA members from multiple states to Kansas City, Mo., for a week of leadership and educational activities.

“This conference is designed to get you out of your comfort zone,” said NJHA chairman Steven Green, Munfordville, Ky. “It’s a great place to see how much you can learn about Hereford cattle and more importantly, about yourself.”

The three-day event focused on leadership development and included tours of Kansas State University (K-State) and the K-State Purebred Unit, Manhattan, Kan., BioZyme® Inc., St. Joseph, Mo., and Jensen Bros., Courtland, Kan. Conference participants also heard inspiring messages from guest speakers Amberley Snyder, Elk Ridge, Utah, and Heather Schultz, Atlanta, Ga.

“Faces of Leadership is a unique opportunity for junior members because it takes them out of the showring and puts them in a real-world setting,” said Amy Cowan, director of youth activities and foundation for the American Hereford Association. “This conference gave participants a look at the agricultural industry and provided a great opportunity to network and build leadership skills.”
