MADISON, Wis. — Bringing the bred-and-owned and owned cow-calf pair champions into the showring for the grand champion selection is a VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) highlight. Easton and Kaytlyn Harfst, Battle Creek, Mich., won the cow-calf pair show at “The Hereford Masters in Madison,” July 8 in Madison, Wis., with HC Eden 302, their champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair.

“It’s a lot of fun to be able to do it as a team, instead of me having a heifer and him (Easton) having a heifer,” Kaytlyn said after the siblings won the cow-calf pair show.

The Harfst siblings’ cow is an April 10, 2023, daughter of CRR 8Y Leverage 971. Her calf is a Jan. 27, 2026, daughter of SCG Showtime No Limit 111ET. Randy Mullinix, Toulon, Ill., and Jake Bohnsack, Taylor Ridge, Ill., judged 23 cow-calf pairs to name the champions.

“I think four-for-four, we have cattle that can work in any facet of the industry,” Mullinix said before selecting the grand champion cow-calf pair. “I think that’s so important.”

Clayton Heins, New Salem, N.D., and CJH Patti 443, were the reserve grand and reserve champion bred-and-owned cow calf pair. The March 20, 2024, daughter of Land Bourbon 2042ET, had a March 17, 2026, bull calf by KJ 488G Justice 606M at her side Nora Werk, Herman Minn., claimed the owned cow-calf champion title with H BL TB Pixie 496 ET, a May 16, 2024, daughter of Bar JZ On Demand, alongside her March 15, 2026, heifer calf by KJ 488G Justice 606M.

KJ TWJ 907E Cherry 374L ET, exhibited by Adalynn Blankenship, West Burlington, N.Y., was named the reserve champion owned cow-calf pair. The Nov. 2, 2023, cow by KLD RW Marksman D87 ET showed with her Feb. 10, 2026, daughter of M&M 003 Firecracker 209.
