The National Hereford Women (NHW) organization feels many women across the country do an outstanding job promoting the Hereford breed and believes in recognizing these ladies. One outstanding woman will be recognized with the NHW Outstanding Woman Award at the 2019 American Hereford Association (AHA) Annual Meeting and Conference Oct. 25-27 during the American Royal Stock Show in Kansas City, Mo. Her name will be added to a new perpetual plaque in the AHA headquarters.
The NHW Outstanding Woman Award is not limited to geography or certain regions in the U.S. Nominations can come from anyone in the Hereford industry and can be submitted directly to the NHW or through the state Hereford auxiliaries/Poll-ette organizations. To nominate an outstanding woman, please send a written endorsement — letter of recommendation — to the NHW Outstanding Hereford Woman committee chairperson. Letters must be postmarked or received electronically by September 1.
A panel of judges will evaluate the nominees and select an award recipient. Selection will be based on accomplishments in promoting Hereford cattle or the beef industry through the media, other organizations or their own Hereford operation. Outstanding leadership for this individual includes hospitality, membership and youth activities such as scholarship programs, queen programs, ways and means, publicity and other related activities in the state and national arenas. Other criteria should include significant information concerning church, civic and professional activities.
