A very busy month to kick off the year as we enter into Cattlemen’s Congress, the National Western Stock Show and Fort Worth Stock Show. Among these shows there is also quite a few deadlines and updates to keep in mind, as the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) begins the 2023 year.
Additionally, the applications for the 2023 Youth Activities Internship and the JNHE Ambassador program are open and close on Feb. 1, 2023. This year the youth activities department will hire one-two interns to help with both the JNHE in Madison, Wis., and the Faces of Leadership conference in Columbus, Ohio. The Ambassador Team will be dedicated to the JNHE and travel to Madison with the team, during their mini-internship. If you know a junior member who will not be showing this summer, or and individual in college who wants experience in breed associations, have them apply today!
Here is a great opportunity to help a special foundation and add a critical building block to your herd, thanks to @T/R Cattle Co. The Hereford Night in OKC Sale will be Friday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. and the cattle will be available for viewing at 4 p.m. This special lot not only will build your herd, but also build HYFA for the future.
A new rule for the steer show will take effect during the 2023 VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Madison, Wis., July 8-14. This rule was voted on and installed by the NJHA board. The new rule reads as follows:

Voting is open through January 13th, 2023 for one of the most anticipated awards in the livestock industry, the Best of the Barns Awards. Voting is available on the Pulse and Hereford friends and family are nominated for various awards. The Junior National Hereford Expo is also a candidate for the most enjoyable junior nationals and Amy Cowan for the best junior activities director. Make sure to vote today for Team Hereford
