APRIL HIGHLIGHTS

The National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) is making preparations the “Grand Daddy of ‘Em All,” this summer in Grand Island, Neb. A record-breaking Sale of Champions has positioned the 2024 Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) to be a one-of-a-kind event and the NJHA can’t wait to celebrate the 25th anniversary with you. The rules and health regulations for all JNHE contests and cattle are live online. Make sure to go check out the JNHE Resources page to stay up to date and start practicing for the contests this summer.

Additionally, today is the final opportunity to apply for the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Spring Scholarship applications and other awards that will be presented at the JNHE.

The month of April will continue the momentum of the NJHA that begins with the 2024 class of juniors joining us in Desdemona, Texas, for the BOLD Leadership Conference on April 4-7, and the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Field Day, April 13, in Scott City, Kan. Make sure to RSVP by today for proper counts for meals and other items.

JUNIOR MEMBER REMINDERS

Now is the time to ensure that your junior membership is up to date. The Advantage newsletter, the official voice of the NJHA, will be hitting mailboxes in April, and only current members will receive one. Additionally, being an active NJHA member is required for scholarship and award applications as well as participation in all contests and summer programs that are planned for Hereford juniors.

For those who will be interested in applying for the NJHA Board of Directors, preparations begin now. Applications will be due June 1, including the state advisor submitted Director Nomination Form. Learn more about running for the NJHA Board of Directors at the link below.

RECORD-BREAKING: HEREFORD SALE OF CHAMPIONS

Hereford family legacies and champion genetics highlighted the record-setting Hereford Sale of Champions, which raised $100,000 for the 25th VitaFerm® JNHE. Built by Hereford families for Hereford families, the Sale of Champions achieved a record breaking high on March 20. Thank you to our Hereford families, friends and Sale Day for ensuring the 25th JNHE is, “The Grand Daddy of ‘Em All.”

Thank you to everyone who chose to support the sale, from donors to buyers. It is because of you that the NJHA and JNHE is able to offer an event that is the best of the barns.

THE GRAND DADDY OF ‘EM ALL

The 2024 VitaFerm JNHE or the Grand Daddy of ‘Em All, will be in Grand Island, Neb., July 6-12. We are so excited to welcome Hereford families from across the country to join us for the event of the summer and a best of the barns caliber show.

JNHE RULE ALERTS

The 2024 VitaFerm JNHE reminds all steer exhibitors of the rule that, “All steers will be required to be parent verified to both sire and dam, therefore, a DNA profile of the steer, the sire and dam must be completed through the official AHA lab by entry deadline. To request a DNA kit for your animal, access your MyHerd or contact AHA customer service.”

It’s never to early to begin working with the labs on your steers DNA profile. Access your MyHerd account here, LINK.

The JNHE wants to remind exhibitors the rules are available to view, HERE. Please note, “Entries submitted prior to the Early Bird deadline with animals not meeting the entry requirements will be put on hold and will be charged an additional $20.”
