Kottkamp Wins Senior Showmanship at 2023 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo

MADISON, Wis. — Dylan Kottkamp, Clayton, Ind., was named champion senior showman at the 2023 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE), “Mad Dash to the Hereford Bash,” on July 11, in Madison, Wis. Presley Ramey, Caldwell, Idaho, received the reserve champion title. Sullivan Supply and Stock Show University, Dunlap, Iowa, sponsored the showmanship contest. 

After sorting through the 131 senior showman, the top 10 individuals were selected to compete in the showmanship finals, which included a fitting contest. 

The top ten senior showmen included: third place, Lauren Frederick, Hutchinson, Kan.; fourth place, Bryden Barber, Channing, Texas; fifth place, Andrew Meier, Clinton, Tenn.; sixth place, Tar Tut, Faribault, Minn.; seventh place, Chesney Effling, Highmore, S.D.; eighth place, Lauren Jones, Darlington, Wis.; ninth place, Salem Sifford, Goldvine, Va.; and 10th place, Foster Wingler, Christiana, Tenn.

Beau Ann Graves, Chillicothe, Mo., was named champion showman in the intermediate division, followed by reserve champion intermediate showman, Lydia Shaw, Caldwell, Idaho.

In the junior division, Blayklee Stelzer, Oologah, Okla., received the champion showman title. Chyloh Billman, Rigby, Idaho, took home reserve champion junior honors. 

Harper Starnes, Fort Payne, Ala., was selected as champion peewee showman. Blakely Storey, Stockton, Ill., was named the reserve champion peewee showman. 

Father and daughter duo Frank and Carlie Jackson, Mitchell, S.D., judged the senior and intermediate showmanship contests. They were joined by Kyle Lemmon, Manchester, Md., for the senior showmanship finals. Lemmon was recently named the 2023 Hereford Herdsman of the Year. Father and son duo, Gil and Corbin Cowles, Rockfield, Ky., evaluated the junior and peewee showmanship contests.

Fifth place – Madelyn Grace Thompson, Amity, Mo.
