KANSAS CITY, Mo. – National Junior Hereford Association members convened for the final junior Hereford show in the National Western Stock Show’s historic Stadium Arena held Jan. 16 in Denver, Colo. Judge Mark Core, Pleasantville, Iowa, sorted 70 females to name the Hereford champions. 

“What this breed is doing is unbelievable,” Core said before selecting the champion polled female. “It’s unbelievable here, from a numbers perspective; it’s unbelievable here, from a phenotype perspective, as well.”

Fallon and Gunnar Gohr, Madras, Ore., and KD Lucky For You 363L ET claimed grand champion horned female honors. The April 20, 2023, daughter of BK BH Fast Ball F102 ET, also won the spring yearling female division. C 88X Sancho Lass 3022, a Jan. 2, 2023, daughter ECR 628 Advance 9490 ET, from the junior yearling division shown by Cruz Colyer, Bruneau, Idaho, was named the reserve grand champion horned female. 

In the polled female show, Hannah and Hadley Harrison, Montague, Calif., grabbed the grand champion banner with HL Rita 2333 ET. The May 9, 2023, daughter of Golden Oak Outcross 18U, first won the intermediate yearling female division. Gunnar and Fallon Gohr, Madras, Ore., garnered reserve grand champion polled female honors with BK CMCC Money to Burn 446M ET, a Feb. 25, 2024, daughter of H The Profit 8426 ET, from the junior heifer calf division.
