Gohr Claims Top Senior Showmanship Spot at 2024 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo

Grand Island, Neb. — Fallon Gohr, Madras, Ore., rose to the top during the Sullivan Supply/Stock Show University national showmanship contest at the 25th annual VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE), July 9, in Grand Island, Neb. Presley Ramey, Caldwell, Idaho, was named the reserve grand champion senior showman at “The Grand Daddy of ’Em All.” Sullivan Supply and Stock Show University, Dunlap, Iowa, sponsored the national showmanship contest. 

The new senior showmanship competition trophy was unveiled this year  to mark the historic legacy created over the past 25 years. This award was made possible through an endowment by  Shane and Melissa Schaake, of Grimmel Schaake Cattle Company, Manhattan, Kan. Melissa and Shane are both products of junior livestock programs, and the couple is devoted to encouraging and supporting the next generation of Hereford enthusiasts.

After evaluating 119 senior showmen, the top 10 individuals were selected to compete in the showmanship finals, which included a fitting contest. 

Rounding out the top ten overall senior showmen were: third-place, Lauren Jones, Darlington, Wis.; fourth-place, Rylie Meinhardt, Onaga, Kan.; fifth-place, Tucker Stagemeyer, Page, Neb.; sixth-place, Cally Miller, El Dorado, Kan.; seventh-place, Grant Helsinger, Germantown, Ohio.; eighth-place, Tyree Figge, Onaga, Kan.; ninth-place, Addison Macfarlane, Cottonwood, Calif.; and 10th-place, Kaylee Lunsford, Stillwater, Kan.

Paxton Hovley, Payette, Idaho, grabbed the champion showman buckle in the intermediate division, followed by reserve grand champion intermediate showman, Jase Beltz, Canton, Kan. 

In the junior division, Kinleigh Jo Guidry, Brenham, Texas, took home the champion showman title. Harper Starnes, Fort Payne, Ala., received reserve grand champion junior honors. 

Ella Weldon, Piedmont, Okla., was named the champion peewee showman. Saylor Norvell, Tuttle, Okla., was selected as the reserve grand champion peewee showman. 

Jake and Kami Scott, Gordon, Neb., judged the senior and intermediate showmanship contests. They were joined by Melissa Grimmel Schaake for the senior showmanship finals. Melissa was recently named the 2024 Hereford Herdsman of the Year. Sam and Morgan Wallace, Stotts City, Mo., evaluated the junior and peewee showmanship contests.
