For the second year in a row, BioZyme® Inc. has graciously offered to donate $1 to the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) for every bag/tub of eligible BioZyme supplement that any American Hereford Association (AHA) member buys through 2018. Receipts for products purchased turned in from Nov. 1, 2017, through Oct. 31, 2018, will count toward the 2018 contribution to HYFA.
Established in 1986, HYFA is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated exclusively to scholarship, leadership and educational support of youth in the business of raising Hereford cattle. The organization’s goal is to recruit, support, educate, train and identify future leaders of not only the Hereford industry, but the beef industry as a whole.
Since its inception, HYFA has supported the Hereford youth in many ways including scholarships and sponsoring various contests and activities for youth to participate in throughout the year. This past fall alone, the foundation awarded more than $170,000 in scholarships. Money raised from “Feed the Future” will directly benefit Hereford youth through leadership and education opportunities such as the Faces of Leadership Conference and the Junior National Hereford Expo.
With more than 7,000 adult and junior members in the AHA and the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA), if each of us bought enough product for a $30 donation from BioZyme, we would easily double last year’s goal. With seven different products to choose from, I know this goal is attainable. My family has joined with over 100 other farms and breeders in sending in our receipts from our purchasesso far. This is just a small portion the farms and breeders in our great organization that use BioZyme products. You may ask how you can send in your receipts and the answer to that is simple. You can either save your receipts to submit at junior nationals or if you are like me and would lose them by then, simply take a picture of your invoice with your smartphone or camera and email a copy of the invoice to Hereford@biozymeinc.com or text your picture(s) to their office at 816-383-3109. Eligible products include Concept•Aid®, Heat®, Cattleman’s Blend™, 30-13% Protein Tub™, Roughage Fortifier®, Sure Start® Pellet and new this year, Vita Charge® Stress Tubs.
With this past summer’s goal met of raising over $100,000 in this amazing program, we are far from reaching the full potential of this program. I challenge each and every breeder that uses BioZyme products to send in their receipts for this coming year. I also want to take this time to thank the breeders who have sent in their receipts this past year. The money raised from this program has helped many different youth further their education and participate in the many events throughout the year. It is up to us as breeders to turn in our receipts. There are a lot of potential funds just lying around or even in the garbage. Think of your receipts like cash, would you throw perfectly good cash in the trash? I know I wouldn’t. I would use it to its full potential and for these receipts, that means remembering to turn them in. It may not seem like much, but even that receipt worth $1 is worth way more than you will ever know to the youth of this great organization.
