KANSAS CITY, Mo. – HAWK Myla 39J ET and H Front Runner 1495 ET won the grand champion titles at the 2022 American Royal National Hereford Show on Oct. 23 in Kansas City, Mo. Judge Kyle Pérez, Nara Visa, N.M., sorted the 122 females and 28 bulls.
In the female show, grand champion honors went to HAWK Myla 39J ET, owned by Paige Lemenager, Hudson, Ill. She was also named champion intermediate yearling female and is a May 21, 2021, daughter of KLD RW Marksman D87 ET.
Reserve grand champion female honors were awarded to BACC 228Z Tara 108 ET, owned by Maddie Jenkins, Athens, Texas. The Feb. 19, 2022, daughter of KLD RW Marksman D87 ET was also named champion junior yearling female.
Grand champion bull honors went to 4 J Farms, Cabot, Ark., with H Front Runner 1495 ET. The Feb. 6, 2021, bull is sired by H The Profit 8426 ET and first took champion yearling bull honors.
Reserve grand champion bull honors went to Dry Creek Farm, Pell City, Ala.; Walker Herefords, Morrison, Tenn.; Landgren Ranch, Bartlett, Neb.; and Dirt Road Farms, Franklin, Tenn., with Land Slinger 2296 1046. He is an April 16, 2021, son of UPS Sensation 2296 ET. He first won reserve champion yearling bull honors.
Brown Polled Herefords, Grand Rapids, Minn., exhibited the champion cow-calf pair, BPH JLB 75E Layla MS 1H. She is an April 18, 2020, daughter of CHAC Mason 2214. The reserve champion cow-calf pair, DPF 415 Leia, was exhibited by Railey Parnell, Flippin, Ark. She is a Feb. 26, 2015, daughter of ABRA 26U Bravo 24Z ET.
Following the selection of the champions, Grimmel-Schaake Cattle Company, Manhattan, Kan., won premier breeder and Lauren Jones, Darlington, Wis., won premier exhibitor.
