KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Emily Beanblossom, Bradford, Ohio, won grand champion cow-calf pair at the 18th annual VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Louisville, Ky., July 19. The cow-calf show was sponsored by Perks Ranch, Rockford, Ill.
Judge Mark McClintock, San Angelo, Texas, picked Beanblossom’s pair out of 36 pairs shown.
Beanblossom won grand champion and champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair with HH Pearls Uno 576A, a February 2015 cow sired by NJW 73S W18 Hometown 10Y ET. She showed with a January bull calf at side by RST Times A Wastin 0124 and with expected progeny differences (EPDs) of birth weight(BW) 3.6; weaning weight (WW) 55; yearling weight (YW) 93; milk (MM) 31; milk & growth (M&G) 59; rib fat (FAT) 0.04; ribeye area (REA) 0.65; and marbling (MARB) 0.17.
The reserve grand champion and champion standard cow-calf pair was exhibited by Kaylee Lunsford, Fort Scott, Kan. Lunsford’s cow, LPH 22A Sensational 12C, is a January 2015 daughter of Churchill Sensation 028X with a January heifer calf at side by NJW 73S W18 Homegrown 8Y ET. She showed with EPDs of BW 1.6, WW 56, YW 84, MM 37; M&G 65, FAT 0.03, REA 0.45 and MARB 0.24.
Aiden Kleinman, Wentworth, Mo., showed the reserve champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair, AMK Lady Victoria 1241 1481. Sired by MSU TCF Revolution 4R, she is a December 2014 cow with a February bull calf at side by Churchill Sensation 028X. Marion’s cow showed with EPDs of BW 1.3, WW59, YW 93, MM 24, M&G 54, FAT 0.02, REA 0.63 and MARB 0.07.
Kade and Kendall Boatman, Rockford, Ill., showed the reserve champion standard cow-calf pair. PERKS 2029 Copper Lady 5101 is an April 2015 daughter of BR Copper 124Y and showed with an April heifer calf at side by Churchill Sensation 028X. The cow has EPDs of BW 4.7, WW 68, YW 112, MM 25, M&G 59, FAT -0.06, REA 0.65 and MARB 0.08.
