KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Aidyn, Bryden and Rylee Barber, Channing, Texas and their heifer, BR Amy Rielle 5538 ET came out on top in the bred-and-owned female show during the 2017 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Louisville, Ky., July 19. Ben and Brooke Jensen, Courtland, Kan., with KJ BJ 339A Coco Creme 746D ET claimed the reserve grand champion title. The bred-and-owned heifer show was sponsored by Buck Cattle Co., Madill, Okla.
Judge Mark McClintock, San Angelo, Texas, sorted the 338 head shown.
Barbers claimed the grand champion honors and champion division VI with an Oct. 16, 2015 daughter of DM BR Sooner. She showed with EPDs of birth weight (BW) 3.2; weaning weight (WW) 66; yearling weight (YW) 101; milk (MM) 26; milk & growth (M&G) 59; rib fat (FAT) 0.00; ribeye area (REA) 0.45; and marbling (MARB) 0.07.
The Jensens won reserve grand champion and champion division II with Sept. 9, 2016, daughter of H/TSR/CHEZ/Full Throttle ET. She showed with EPDs of BW 3.1, WW 56, YW 88, MM 27, M&G 55, FAT -0.03, REA 0.61 and MARB -0.02.
