Hereford juniors — seize the opportunity to expand your educational horizons and apply now for fall scholarships. In 2018, the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA), National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) and National Hereford Women (NHW) awarded $173,000 to deserving NJHA members. Applications for fall scholarships are due Sept. 1. Recipients will be awarded at the Hereford Honorees Reception at the American Hereford Association’s (AHA) Annual Membership Meeting and Conference in Kansas City, Mo.

All scholarship applications along with letters of reference, transcripts and photos must be filled out and submitted online through the Fluid Review Room. Please visit Hereford.FluidReview.com for descriptions, requirements and materials needed for each application.

Fall HYFA scholarships include:

  • 10 $10,000 Vanier Family Scholarships
  • Two $5,000 EE Ranch Scholarships
  • One $5,000 Perks Ranch Scholarship
  • One $5,000 CBY Polled Herefords, Bob & Dolores Call Scholarship
  • One $5,000 Ball Foundation/ Cottonwood Springs Farm Scholarship
  • One $4,000 Bar One Ranch, In Memory of Ken Tracy Scholarship
  • One $2,500 Whitehead Ranches Scholarship
  • One $2,500 Fauquier Farms, Bob & Lucy Kube Scholarship
  • One $2,500 Randy & Kelly Owen Scholarship
  • One $2,500 Blin Family Scholarship
  • One $2,500 Larson Polled Herefords Scholarship

  • A highlight of the of the fall scholarships is the $2,500 Gary Bishop Memorial Scholarship. An Oklahoma native, Bishop began working for the AHA in 1973 serving in the capacities of assistant director of Total Performance Records, director of feedlot and carcass programs and director of field services. He also served as director of youth activities, a job that he held in high esteem throughout his life, as he dedicated much of his energy working for the betterment of the Hereford youth organization. He is remembered for his hard working, dedicated, faithful and determined nature and this scholarship is designed to recognize youth who demonstrate the many outstanding qualities Bishop demonstrated.
