Welcome aboard, Ladies!

The 2018 ambassadors for the Junior National Hereford Expo have arrived in Kansas City and are busy prepping for the JNHE next week. The ambassadors will assist the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) board and American Hereford Association staff during a two-week long mini internship. Ambassadors will arrive in Kansas City prior to the JNHE and will work through July 8.

Meet the ambassadors:

Adison Niese

Adison Niese, Shelby, Ohio, is a junior at the Ohio State University (OSU) studying agricultural communications with a minor in meat science. At Ohio State, Adison is a chartering officer for the Collegiate Ohio Agri-Women where she serves as the social relations coordinator and is a member of the 2018 OSU Meats Judging Team. She currently serves as an at-large director for the American Junior Maine-Anjou Association, where she is part of executing one of the top junior nationals in the country. In high school Adison excelled in 4-H and FFA and was very involved in her local community. From being a part of Ohio Cattlemen’s BEST program, to the multiple clubs and organizations at Ohio State and the junior board, Adison is a perfect asset to the 2018 Ambassador team and can’t wait to meet everyone at the JNHE.

Dixie Miller

Dixie Miller, Farmington, Ark., will be a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College (HCC) in the fall majoring in animal science. Upon completion at HCC, Dixie plans to attend the University of Arkansas to obtain a bachelor’s of science in agricultural education. She is a member of the livestock judging team and a valuable asset to the Student Success Center at HCC. After competing and exhibiting at the 2016 JNHE, Dixie is excited to gain a different perspective for what goes on behind the scenes at a national show. No matter the situation, Dixie chooses to step-up and take on the leadership roles and responsibility needed to guide the group in the right direction. From her involvement and experiences at HCC, the Arkansas Junior Hereford Association, FFA and the K-State Animal Science Leadership Academy, Dixie will be a great member of the ambassador team.

Jessica Juvinall

Jessica Juvinall, Central Point, Ore., just finished her junior year at Oklahoma State University (OSU) where she is majoring in animal science with a business option. Prior to OSU, Jessica attended Blin College where she was a member of the livestock judging team and an active member of the Blinn Ag Club. Now that Jessica is at OSU she is a member of the livestock judging team and OSU Block and Bridle club. Jessica has grown up showing sheep and traveling to shows along the west coast along with the North American and has interned at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo where she helped execute the gilt show. Growing up, Jessica was a multiple sport athlete as well as an active 4-H and FFA member where she served on many committees and held leadership roles. Jessica can’t wait to gain experience and take a step forward in her future career in the agricultural industry and with the association.

Kylie Patterson

Kylie Patterson, San Antonio, Texas, is a recent graduate of Blinn College. In the fall, she will be attending Oklahoma State University (OSU) where she will participate on the livestock judging team while finishing her bachelors in animal science. In the fall of 2020 she plans to attend graduate school at Texas A&M University. Kylie has shown Brahman cattle and steers for several years and is a member of the Texas Junior Livestock Association and was named the American Junior Brahman Association all around exhibitor and the national queen. Over the years, Kylie has grown and developed her skill set as her work ethic and love for the industry has opened doors far beyond her dreams and she will be a valuable member of Team Hereford this summer.

Morgan Leefers

Morgan Leefers, Otoe, Neb., is thrilled to be continuing her sophomore year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in the fall majoring in agribusiness with minors in the beef scholars program, communications and the Engler Entrepreneur Program. Morgan has served as a volunteer with the collegiate livestock judging contest at the National Western Stock Show and is involved in a variety of leadership activities at UNL. Morgan’s passions don’t end with livestock; she was a varsity softball player and cheerleader and was named an academic athlete multiple times. Whether she’s on the field, assisting students or in the barn, Morgan has a strong ambition to learn and a passion for helping people. She can’t wait to interact with all the Hereford youth and their families at the JNHE.

Taylor Dorsey

Taylor Dorsey, Eaton, Colo., will be a senior at Oklahoma State University (OSU) this fall majoring in animal science with a business option. Taylor grew up showing several species of livestock at the state, regional and national levels. She is serving as a board of director for the American Junior Maine-Anjou Association where she helps to run national open shows and the junior national held every summer. Her passion for the show cattle industry, coupled with her leadership abilities, make Taylor a valuable asset to the 2018 ambassador team. Taylor is a part of several organizations at OSU, including Phi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Zeta and Block and Bridle. Taylor is excited to work with the American Hereford Association staff to broaden her horizons and learn more about the breed. She looks forward to taking on the role of being a mentor for the youth at the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE).
