FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS

The National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) isn’t slowing down a beat and is continuing to drive forward into the year. This month is the time for preparation, as announcements for the events of the summer start to come to the surface. For example, the BOLD Leadership conference, an elite leadership opportunity, will announce the accepted juniors for the 2024 program. This select group of Hereford juniors will gather in Desdemona, Texas, for leadership training and education on another level.

Additionally, the American Hereford Association (AHA) has launched its newly rebranded Website for the future and we cannot be more excited to continue providing all information and details for our junior members on this platform. Take the time to dive into the new Website and find all the information you are needing, both for your junior operation and to stay up to date on all things NJHA.

SUPPORT THE JNHE & DEVELOP YOUR HERD

The Sale of Champions has been pushed back to March 20, happening on Sale Day Inc. The Sale of Champions is an opportunity for buyers to get access to unique lots featuring past Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) champions and opportunities during the 2024 JNHE. Proceeds from this sale go straight back to ensuring that the JNHE is funded each year and offering unique and memorable moments for junior Hereford members. Beyond the support of the JNHE, this sale allows you to continue to develop your own herd with genetics that are not traditionally available. Save the date, and keep watch for more information about the different lots.

CALLING ALL GRAND ISLAND STEER EXHIBITORS

The 2024 VitaFerm JNHE wants to remind all steer exhibitors of the rule that was put in place last year that reads as follows,

“All steers will be required to be parent verified to both sire and dam, therefore, a DNA profile of the steer, the sire and dam must be completed through the official AHA lab by entry deadline. To request a DNA kit for your animal, access your MyHerd or contact AHA customer service.”

It’s never to early to begin working with the labs on your steers DNA profile. Access your MyHerd account.
