A busy month ahead focused in Kansas City as Hereford breeders and enthusiasts from across the country descend for the American Hereford Association (AHA) Annual Meeting and Educational Forum, Oct. 19-22 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Special events and recognitions are in store for the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) members during this time and we can’t wait to celebrate Hereford youth.

The Foundation 1 Campaign was initiated by Sierra Ranches, Modesto, Calif., with the intent that 1 percent of the proceeds of their fall production sale were donated to HYFA. The Foundation 1 Fund continues to grow as a way for organizations, corporate partners, families and ranches to support Hereford youth and the future of the breed. We invite you to come grow with us and see how 1 percent over time makes a huge difference. Since 2017, the Foundation 1 Campaign has generated more than $200,000 from a generous host of donors giving back a percentage of their sale proceeds. Donations can range from 1 percent to 10 percent, individual lots, artwork, semen, product sales and more.
Jensen Bros., Courtland Kan., are participating in the Foundation 1 Campaign for a 4th year in a row, with a percentage of The Chosen Sale going towards the pillars of scholarship, leadership, education and research. The sale will be Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at Sander’s Ranch, Louisburg, Kan., and the Jensen family and HYFA invite you to the sale and thank you for your support of the Foundation 1 Campaign.
During the Ladies of the Royal Sale, The NJHA and HYFA continue the tradition of Lot 1, and this year is extra special as we get ready to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE). The street sign draws lots of attention in the showring at the JNHE and is also on display all year at the American Hereford Association headquarters. As an added bonus to this commemorative package, the highest bidder will get their pick between the Grand Champion Polled or the Grand Champion Horned Female at the Grand Daddy of ‘Em All and the 2024 JNHE in Grand Island, Neb., July 6-12.
Special this year, the Lot 1 buyer may choose to double down and secure their spot in the JNHE showring for two years in a row. The sale takes place at the American Royal Wagstaff Sale Arena, Oct. 21 at 1:30p.m. Take your pick and make your mark as we embark on the Grand Drive to 25 and this anniversary celebration.
