Todd Herman & Kasey Heindel
April 1, 2020
Todd Herman, Lima, Ohio, grew up on a diversified livestock operation, including Dairy cattle, a hog operation and Hereford cattle in Edgerton, Ohio. Todd is a 3rd generation Hereford Breeder. He is a graduate of Michigan State University. Upon graduation, he moved to New York to work for ACE Polled Herefords. In 1989, the ranch moved to Oklahoma and later became Star Lake Cattle Ranch. Todd helped Star Lake obtain 13 consecutive Carload Champions.
Todd was named Hereford Herdsman of the year in 1987. That same year, Todd and Kim’s daughter Kasey was born. In keeping the Hereford heritage going, Todd and Kim were very fortunate that Kasey’s passion for Herefords continued by showing at every Junior National Hereford Expo she was eligible for.
Todd has judged numerous shows throughout the US and Canada. Todd and Kim along with his parents Jim and Beth Herman and Dan and Kasey Heindel continue to raise Herefords. Todd and Kim currently live in Lima, Ohio where he is the Cowherd Manager at Jones Show Cattle.
Kasey Heindel, Columbus Junction, Iowa, is a 4th generation Hereford breeder on both sides of her family. Kasey grew up in Oklahoma showing Hereford cattle alongside her parents, Todd and Kim Herman. The JNHE was their family vacation every summer.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University, she went to work for the American Maine-Anjou Association from 2010-2013. In 2013 she moved to southeast Iowa where she currently lives with her husband, Dan, and their son, Kannan. Together they raise crossbred and Hereford cattle on the family farm. In June, they are expecting another farmhand to help out.
As a past winner of these showmanship competitions, it is a real honor to be asked to judge, and an even bigger honor to be asked to judge with her dad.
