Alan Miller, Gridley, Ill.
Alan and his family own and operate Prairie View Farms (PVF), a 250-cow purebred Angus operation. Prairie View Farms is a leading Angus seedstock operation, which not only breeds Angus cattle, but also markets and exhibits cattle across the country. PVF markets show heifers, bred heifers and bulls primarily through two production sales, held each October and April. In addition, PVF is a satellite center for TransOva Genetics and markets embryos online and privately.
Alan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1995 with a degree in animal sciences. He went on to earn his master’s and Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from Illinois. Alan spent 15 years working for the University of Illinois Extension. He currently serves on the American Angus Association Board of Directors.
Alan has judged cattle shows across the country, including National Western Stock Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, Fort Worth Stock Show, San Antonio Stock Show, several breed national junior heifer shows, and many state fairs. He was a member of the national champion 4-H livestock judging team for Illinois, and a member of the University of Illinois livestock judging team.
Alan and his wife, Theresa, live on the farm in Gridley, Ill., and have three children: Amelia, Adam, and William.
