Runner as AHA youth activities intern
Halie Runner will serve as the AHA junior activities intern. Runner is a senior at Oklahoma State University (OSU) majoring in animal science and agricultural communications. At OSU, Runner is a member of the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organization. Prior to attending OSU, Runner attended Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) on a livestock judging scholarship where she was a member of the 2016-2018 LLCC livestock judging team.
As the AHA youth activities intern, Runner will play an important role as she assists the AHA and National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) in organizing and facilitating the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Louisville, Ky., as well as the Faces of Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio. She will also assist in managing the JNHE ambassadors and the NJHA board of directors. With a desire for working with youth and prior experience in design, photography and social media she fits the role for an AHA junior activities intern.
“Halie will be a great addition to our team for the summer,” says Bailey Clanton, AHA national shows coordinator. “Her extensive knowledge and passion for the industry, combined with her past experience allows her to be an exceptional asset in planning JNHE and Faces of Leadership.”
Vehige named HPI intern
Grace Vehige has been selected as the Hereford Publications Inc. (HPI) intern. The Missouri native recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with a dual degree in agricultural communications and agricultural leadership with a minor in global studies. She currently serves as president on the national board of directors of the American Gelbvieh Junior Association and will begin her pursuit of a master’s degree in agricultural communications this fall at Texas Tech University.
During her time at the University of Arkansas, Vehige served on the graphic design committee for the Sigma Alpha professional sorority and was actively involved in the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow club. She also served as the executive media intern for the 2018 Arkansas State FFA Convention. Her involvement in many influential agricultural companies will bring a plethora of experience to HPI as she works with the Hereford World and Creative Services teams on production projects, including feature stories, ads and sale catalogs. In addition, she will attend the Junior National Hereford Expo to assist with event coverage shooting photos and keeping the social media platforms up to date.
“We are very impressed with Grace’s skillset and are excited to work with such a talented student,” says Diane Meyer, Hereford World editor and director of communications. “Paired with her impressive background in livestock, Grace’s communication and writing skills will help grow our HPI team.”
