An online auction was held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 to benefit the Hereford Research Foundation (HRF), a division of the Hereford Youth Foundation of America. The HRF was established in 2009 to support breed …
A total of 80 lots were offered in the sale ranging from items such as semen and embryos to a private jet trip, a Kansas City Chiefs package and livestock equipment. The items sold on www.smartauctions.co to 20 buyers and raised over $60,000.
“We are humbled by the participation from both donors and buyers during this sale,” said Shane Bedwell, director of breed improvement and chief operating officer at the AHA. “It’s great to have the support of an industry that has the same focus as the foundation does on the betterment of the Hereford breed.”
HRF was developed to support programs that enhance beef cattle production. These projects will be conducted throughout the U.S. in conjunction with universities, private firms and ranches and shall be funded by donations. Extensive time and resources are spent each year by the AHA to enhance beef cattle production through various ongoing projects. All contributions made will directly enhance the research efforts and are tax-deductible through the Hereford Youth Foundation of America’s 501(c)3.
“Thank you to everyone who helped make this sale a success,” Bedwell said. “On behalf of the HRF, we appreciate the generous support.”
