JUNE HIGHLIGHTS

Who is ready to celebrate 25 years of the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE)? June is a busy month of event preparation for the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) as we get ready to learn, lead and achieve this summer. Whether you are practicing your showmanship skills for Grand Island or counting the days to Faces of Leadership, we can’t wait to spend our summer with you. It’s a busy time of year, and we encourage you to follow along with the NJHA and Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) on their social media channels.

WELCOME INTERNS

Join us in welcoming the 2024 Youth Activities summer interns and JNHE Ambassadors.

Denver Drake, Greenville, Texas, and Hannah McElrath of Calhoun, Ga., joined the AHA office staff at the beginning of May, assiting with all things for the 25th JNHE and the Faces of Leadership Conference.

Devin Morton, Stratford, Okla., and Parker Wilson, Waller, Texas, will be joining the team for the Grand Daddy of ‘Em All, in Grand Island, Neb. We’re excited to be bringing this team together and having all of their assistance for the biggest event of the summer.

FINAL JNHE ENTRY DEADLINE IS HERE

Entries for the 2024 VitaFerm JNHE close on June 1. We are so excited to welcome Hereford families from across the country as we celebrate 25 years of the JNHE, but first we encourage you to complete the entry check list to ensure all of your entries are in order upon arriving in Grand Island.

Show rules, judges, contest information and a tentative schedule are all available at the JNHE Resources page. Check in often to find all the details and information you need as you prepare for you trip.

2024 JNHE CHECK LIST

RUN FOR THE NJHA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

For those who will be interested in applying for the NJHA Board of Directors, applications are open now. On behalf of the NJHA, the board of directors travels to various activities, meeting fellow members and sharing their thoughts and experiences of Hereford involvement. They also get first-hand experience at leadership, cooperation and organization.

The NJHA Board also makes recommendations for new programs and ideas to the American Hereford Association Board of Directors, helps train other juniors and promote the Hereford breed at various activities and events throughout the year. Being on the NJHA board of directors is a responsibility that should be taken seriously. Before applying, please make sure to read through the Board Agreement and Code of Conduct that you sign once elected, stating you are capable of meeting those requirements. Applications will be due June 1, including the state advisor submitted Director Nomination Form.

BEYOND THE SHOWRING AT THE JNHE – CONTEST DEADLINE IS JUNE 1

Are you ready to compete outside of the showring at the Grand Daddy of ‘Em All? The entries for all contests held in conjunction with the 2024 JNHE are open and the NJHA is excited to welcome all members to participate in educational contests and programs during the 25th JNHE.

Through educational programs at the JNHE, Hereford youth have the opportunity to gain invaluable skills that will enable them to become self-directing, educated leaders in today’s world. We are continuing to grow and excitement builds as we head to Grand Island.

CORNHOLE FOR A CAUSE

Continuing to come back by popular demand, is the Cornhole for a Cause event, hosted by the NJHA Board of Directors, Sunday, July 7th. Funds this year will be directed to the NJHA State Leadership and Education Grant.

Entries will open after the June 1 deadlines close, and are due July 1, 2024 at $50/team and are submitted on submittable.com If bracket space allows, or until we meet the max of 64 teams, late entries will be accepted on-site at $60/team.

The “Grand Daddy of Em’ All” is right around the corner. You’re going to need somewhere to sleep during all the fun. The National Junior Hereford Association has partnered with Boarders Inn & Suites.To access the group rate rooms you MUST contact the hotel directly at 308-384-5150. When referencing the block, please reference the Junior National Hereford Expo, the rate cannot be accessed online.

EVEN LEADERSHIP IS BIGGER IN TEXAS

The NJHA’s annual Faces of Leadership Conference mission is to empower NJHA members with the skills they need to develop into the best leaders they can be. Through the Faces of Leadership Conference young leaders are exposed to opportunities in the industry and the conference cultivates communication skills, encourages working in team settings and focuses on individual development.

The 2024 Faces of Leadership will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, July 28-31. Find the schedule, registration and more information below.
