It is crazy how time flies so quickly, but it is already that time of year to run for a position on the National Hereford Women’s (NHW) board of directors. The board has openings in three of the four regions — the Northwest, Southwest and Southeast.
Applications are due Aug. 1, 2019, and can be found here. Please email your application to NationalHerefordWomen@gmail.com.
For more information about running for the NHW board of directors, please contact the nominating committee chairwomen. The NHW proudly announces this year’s nomination committee: Barbara Metch Holan, Southwest; Kim Herinckx, Northwest; Jill Folkman, Northeast; Randa Owen Starnes, Southeast. Please join the NHW in giving a very special thank-you to these ladies for helping make the NHW’s future bright.
The NHW is comprised of a 12-member board with representatives from four regions of the U.S. These regions coincide with boundaries designated by the American Hereford Association (AHA). The board shares responsibilities of communications, fundraising, the National Hereford Queen program, scholarships and contests, and much more through several committees.
The NHW was founded Oct. 31, 2009, with the merger of the American Hereford Women and the National Organization of Poll-ettes (NOP). The history of these two great organizations is rooted in providing educational resources, youth development, queen programs, support for Certified Hereford Beef® and resources for the AHA, the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) and the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA).
Today, the organization’s commitments remain the same, with a focus on promoting Hereford genetics to the cattle-buying public, educating future leaders of the Hereford breed and promoting Certified Hereford Beef. The NHW organizes and supports a variety of initiatives in favor of this mission. In addition to traditional programs and activities, the NHW continually seeks new opportunities to achieve its mission on both state and national levels.
Please visit the membership page on HerefordWomen.com for more information about joining the NHW.
