Welcome to the AHA, Haley and Paige!

 The Hereford Publications Inc. (HPI) team is excited to welcome Haley Stark from DeLeon Springs, Fla., to the American Hereford Association (AHA) headquarters this summer.

Stark recently completed her sophomore year at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan., where she was a member of the livestock judging team. She will attend Oklahoma State University this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agricultural communications.

“I am excited to get started as the HPI summer intern,” Stark said. “I am really passionate about advocating for the agricultural industry and hope to find a career after college doing just that.”

While attending Butler Community College, Stark was an active member of the Butler Community Ag Ambassadors and served as a National Junior Swine Association regional junior board director. She joins the HPI team with a wealth of journalism experience as a news editor and staff reporter.

During the internship program, Stark will assist with Hereford World editorial and HPI creative services projects.

“I hope this summer internship gives me a jump start in writing, editing and learning all about the publication industry,” Stark said.

The AHA also welcomes Paige Jones as the junior activities intern this summer. Jones recently completed her junior year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she is pursuing a degree in agricultural communications and a minor in leadership studies.

Currently, Jones serves in leadership roles in the Illini Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) and the Hoof and Horn Club, and is a member of the Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority.

“I recently became the president of the ACT,” she said. “The ACT’s involvement in Women Changing The Faces of Agriculture has given me a lot of hands-on experience working with people and developing my communication skills, which I think will directly play into this internship.”

Her main duties this summer will focus on helping to organize the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Louisville, Ky., and the Faces of Leadership Conference in Kansas City, Mo. Jones will also help manage the JNHE ambassador team and the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) board of directors.

“I am most looking forward to working directly in the livestock industry and with the people in the livestock industry,” Jones said. “Growing up showing pigs and cattle, it’s an industry I am really lucky to be a part of. I am happy to take on a professional role in the livestock industry this summer.”
