MADISON, Wis. —Young people teed up their beef industry knowledge during the Hereford bowl held at the 2026 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) “The Hereford Masters in Madison,” July 5 in Madison, Wis. National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) members participated in both an individual written test and team competition designed to challenge participants’ knowledge of the beef industry, Hereford breed and the history of the JNHE.Competitors started with a 50-question written test and skillathon, including feed sample identification. The top four teams in each division from the written round advanced to the buzzer bowl round and competed for the champion title. 

The senior high individual in the written test was Julia Studer, Frankfort, Kan. Gage Creamer, Waxahachie, Texas was named the high individual in the junior division of the written test.

The winning team in the junior division was Illinois. Kansas took reserve champion honors. Team Texas topped the senior division, and the reserve champion was Kentucky. 

The Hereford bowl promotes sportsmanship and a strong commitment to learning about the beef industry and the Hereford breed. It offers a valuable educational experience for participants and spectators. 

The Hereford bowl is one of many educational opportunities supported by the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) to uphold its educational pillar.. These programs provide Hereford youth with the opportunity to develop valuable skills that prepare them to become knowledgeable, self-driven leaders in today’s world, all while competing outside of the showring and connecting with fellow NJHA members.
