Hereford Express Online Auction raises $33,000 for the 2018 Junior National Hereford Expo
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – An online auction was held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 to raise money for the Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE). This summer showcase provides an opportunity for competition of junior members and their cattle projects, along with plenty of events for the entire family.
During the week, more than 900 Hereford youth from more than 40 states will exhibit approximately 1,500 head of cattle and participate in leadership and educational competitions. The 2018 JNHE will be held July 1-7 in Grand Island, Neb.
Over 30 lots were offered in the sale ranging from items such as semen and embryos to pick of the stalls in Grand Island. The items sold on Lowderman Auction Options online auction website to 33 buyers from 15 states for a combined total of approximately $33,000.
“It is great to see the support we have for the Junior National Hereford Expo,” says Amy Cowan, director of youth activities and foundation for the American Hereford Association (AHA). “We are grateful to everyone who helped to make this sale a huge success.”

The National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) is one of the largest, strongest and most active junior cattle programs in the country. Over the years, members of this association have gone on to earn international and domestic respect as models for youth organizational success.
The NJHA, through its extensive educational programs, continues to lay the foundation for the beef industry’s future leaders. The traditions of the past coupled with the energy of today’s board of directors have created a progressive approach to further develop a meaningful and educational association focus.
The NJHA is governed by a 12-member board of directors who serve as ambassadors for the Hereford breed.
The National Junior Hereford Association creates and promotes enthusiasm for the Hereford breed while providing opportunities through leadership, education and teamwork thus ensuring a brighter future for youth and the cattle industry.
