KANSAS CITY, Mo. – MCC Skyfall 007ET and EXR Bailees McKee 0250 ET took champion honors in the female show. HL Stimulus 2108 ET and C 8078 Bell Heir 0236 took champion honors in the bull show at the 2021 Western States Hereford Show in Reno, Nev. Judge Shane Werk, Manhattan, Kan., sorted the 158-head show.

Female Show Winners
Hadley and Hannah Harrison, Montague, Calif., exhibited the champion and reserve polled females. MCC Skyfall 007 ET claimed champion polled female honors. She is an August 31, 2020, daughter of H Deberard 7454 ET and was first named champion polled senior heifer calf. H Lady 032 ET was reserve champion polled female. She is a February 26, 2020, daughter of NJW 78P 88X Cowboss 199B ET and was first named champion polled junior yearling female.

Piper Colyer, Bruneau, Idaho, exhibited the champion and reserve horned females. EXR Bailees McKee 0250 ET, champion horned female, is a March 1, 2020, daughter of EXR Bankroll 8130 ET and was first named champion horned spring yearling female. C Bailee Valor 0346 ET, reserve champion horned female, is a September 24, 2020, daughter of HAPP BK Valor 37C ET and was first named champion horned senior calf.

WSF Marvelous Lady G279, shown by Jaylin, Zeke and Zade Ward, Blackfoot, Idaho, was the grand champion polled cow-calf pair. The cow is a May 15, 2019, daughter of TH 13Y 358C Bottom Line 206E. She showed with a May heifer calf by Mohican 4013 14G at her side. BF 322 Scarlett 7010 ET shown by Cody Morrell, Pleasant Hill, Ore., was the reserve champion polled cow-calf pair. She is an April 19, 2017, daughter of CRR Catapult 322, and showed with a September heifer calf by MCC Kayte’s Legend 100G ET at her side. SHR Spring Fling 4F exhibited by Santos Hereford Ranch, Hilmar, Calif., was the grand champion horned cow-calf pair. The cow is an April 28, 2018, daughter of CRR About Time 743, and showed with a May heifer calf by H/TSR/CHEZ/Full Throttle ET at her side.

 

Bull Show Winners
Hadley and Hannah Harrison exhibited the grand champion polled bull, HL Stimulus 2108 ET. He is a March 5, 2021, son of NJW 79Z Z311 Endure 173D ET. He was first named champion polled spring bull calf. Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, Idaho, and Roger Jennings, Palmyra, Ill., exhibited C Key West 0065 who was named the reserve champion polled bull. He is a January 5, 2020, of C CJC Belle Heir ET and was first

named champion polled yearling bull.

C 8078 Bell Heir 0236 exhibited by Colyer Herefords was the champion horned bull. He is a March 1, 2020, son of C CJC Bell Heir ET and was first named the champion horned yearling bull. Sara McCann Harfst, Jacksonville, Ore., and Brumley Farms, Orovada, Nev., exhibited the reserve champion horned bull, BF Harfst Johnny Ringo 057H, an August 28, 2020, son of SR TKC La Grange 6126 ET. He was first named the reserve horned senior bull calf.

Other Show Awards
At the conclusion of the show, Colyer Herefords was named horned breeder and Piper Colyer was named premier horned exhibitor. Premier polled breeder honors went to Brumley Farms, Fallon Gohr, Madras, Ore., and Colyer Herefords. The premier polled exhibitor was awarded to Hannah and Hadley Harrison.
Morrell Ranches, Willows, Calif., was recognized as first in the best six head followed by Cache Cattle Co., Wellsville, Utah, in second and High Desert Cattle Co., Canyon City, Ore., in third. Morrell Ranches was recognized as first in the pen of three head followed by High Desert Cattle Co. in second. Morrell Ranches was also named first in get-of-sire with UPS Sensation 2296 ET.

Special awards were presented at the Western Nugget Social and Frozen Genetics

Sale. Bailey Morrell, Willows, Calif., was awarded the John Ascuaga Hereford Scholarship and Tymber Billman, of Blackfoot, Idaho, received the Willard Wolf Award in honor of the late Willard Wolf. The 2021 Western State Hereford Show Honoree was David Park, Minden, Nev. Park alongside his father, Bruce, and family operate Park Livestock Co., a family owned and operated cattle ranch that has been in business since the late 1800’s. The 2021 Western State Hereford Supporter Award Recipient was George Sprague Eugene, Ore., an avid supporter of Hereford youth. He and his wife, Karen, own and operate the Bar One Ranch.
