KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Purple Iris 145G ET and MYO 559 On Time 927 ET won grand champion titles at the 2020 American Royal National Hereford Show Oct. 25 in Kansas City, Mo. Judge Brady Jensen, Brookings, S.D., sorted the 257-head open show.
In the female show, grand champion honors went to Purple Iris 145G ET, owned by Lauren May, Mineral Point, Wis. She was first named champion intermediate yearling female and is a May 7, 2019, daughter of UPS Sensation 2296 ET.
Reserve grand champion female honors were awarded to JB MC LDSC Shelby’s 1940 ET exhibited by Kai Thomsen, Madison, S.D. The April 19, 2019, daughter of TFR KU Roll The Dice 1326 was first named champion spring yearling female.
Grand champion bull honors went to Mayo Ridge Ranch, Scott City, Kan.; KS Cattle Co., New Windsor, Md.; Coyote Ridge Ranch, La Salle, Colo.; and Foggy Bottom Farm, Keymar, Md., with MYO 559 On Time 927 ET. The May 18, 2019 bull is sired by CRR 109 On Point 559 ET and first claimed champion intermediate bull honors.
Reserve champion bull honors went to Walker Polled Hereford Farm, Morrison, Tenn.; Dry Creek Farm, Pell City, Ala.; and Jernigan Farm, Columbia, Tenn., with DCF 628 Promote 824F ET. He is a Oct. 19, 2018, son of H FHF Advance 628 ET. He first won champion senior bull honors.
Lauren, Brady and Nicholas Jones, Darlington, Wis., exhibited the champion cow-calf pair, MF 308N Caitlin 13C ET. The cow is a March 22, 2015, daughter of BR Currency 8144 ET. She showed with a CHEZ/PUGH/HARA Logic 8815F ET, April bull at her side.
The reserve champion cow-calf pair, SULL Harley Miles 8279F ET, was exhibited by Cassie and Krista Allscheid, Waterloo, Ill. The cow is March 18, 2018, daughter of C Miles McKee 2103 ET and showed with a UPS Sensation 2296 ET March heifer calf at her side.
Following the selection of the champions, Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill., was named premier breeder and Bryden Barber, Channing, Texas, won premier exhibitor.
Junior Show
Chris Cassady, Ankeny, Iowa, sorted the 144-head American Royal Junior Hereford Show Oct. 24. Vada and Hans Vickland, Longmont, Colo., claimed top honors with their grand champion female, H KFL Pixie 9372 ET. On Jan. 23, 2019, daughter of H Montgomery 7437 ET was first named champion junior yearling female in the junior show.
Kai Thomsen, Madison, S.D., exhibited the reserve champion female, JB MC LDSC Shelby’s 1940 ET. She is an April 19, 2019, daughter of TFR KU Roll The Dice 1326 and received reserve champion honors in the open show.
