October 23, 2017

Are you ready to maximize feeder calf marketing potential and drive profit margins? Join Brent Lowderman, owner and operator of Carthage Livestock, Inc., and Case Gabel, Magnum Feedyards Co. cattle procurement, to learn about leveraging various marketing tools available including the Hereford Advantage program, Hereford and Hereford-influenced feeder calf sales and backgrounding options at the Maximizing Profit educational session Oct. 27 at the AHA Annual Meeting.

Brent, along with his wife, Kris, are the owners and operators of Carthage Livestock Inc., in Carthage, Ill. A leader in the Midwest for marketing cattle, Carthage Livestock Inc., conducts auctions in the fall, winter, and spring months, with summer being the exception. The schedule includes sale dates specific to feeders, yearlings, bred heifers, and cow/calf pairs, with fat cattle, as well as slaughter cattle, sold at every sale.

In 2007, the couple initiated the first annual Greater Midwest Hereford Influenced Feeder Calf Sale, which has continued to grow in numbers since its inception.

Case is the director of cattle procurement at Magnum Feedyards, Wiggins, Colo. Magnum has established buyer relationships with reputable firms across the United States to assist with cattle procurement. The feedyard procures nearly 40 percent of all the cattle they feed. Located within 40 miles of two major packing facilities with a combined double shift capacity of over 10,000 head, Magnum customers enjoy the distinct advantage of “competition” when their fed cattle are ready for harvest.
