Keystone Hereford Champions Named

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- ­­ MSC Ramseys Sylvia Powerload and BF 7055 Stonewall 902 ET topped the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) National Hereford Show in Harrisburg, Pa., Oct. 1. Cody Lowderman, Macomb, Ill., judged the 171-head show and said he enjoyed judging the high-quality cattle presented.
The overall champion female, MSC Ramseys Sylvia Powerload, was bred and owned by Matthew Compton, Greenfield, Ind. The June 2009 daughter of AA Powerload was first named intermediate champion heifer. Lowderman followed with the champion junior yearling heifer. JB Remetee 213 was slapped reserve champion overall female, and is owned by Karey Howes, Taneytown, Md., and bred by Blake Bloomberg, Berwick, Ill. Remetee is a February 2009 daughter of Purple Millsap 45S.
The bull grand drive was dominated by the yearling bulls with division champion BF 7055 Stonewall 902 ET, owned by David and Beth Burns, Pikeville, Tenn., and Doug LeTourneau, Gallatin, Tenn., earning top honors. He is a January 2009 son of BR DM CSF Wallace ET and was bred by Burns Farms, Pikeville, Tenn. The reserve champion overall bull was the reserve champion yearling bull, AA Airline 972 ET, owned by Able Acres, Wingate, Ind.; Mud Creek Farms, German Valley, Ill.; and Thousand Hills Herefords, Stockton, Ill. The Remitall Online 122L son was born in February 2009 and was bred by Able Acres.
In the cow-calf show, Lowderman chose SMB 492 Utah 17S 5U and her January heifer calf by THM Durango 4037 the overall champion pair, owned by Thomas Mack, Charlotte, Vt. The cow is a 2-year-old daughter of Feltons Ozzie 492. Reserve champion cow-calf pair was NS Lady R 646 with a February heifer calf at side by H Easy Deal 609 ET. The pair is owned by Oak Ledge Farm, Belmont, N.H. Lady is a 4-year-old daughter of Blair-Athol 20 The Rock ET 19M.
At the conclusion of the show, first-place get of sire was awarded to a group by Harvie Dan T-Bone 196T. Deana Jak Farms Inc., Wagontown, Pa., won Best Six Head and Doug LeTourneau was awarded the premier exhibitor banner. Premier breeder was Joe J. Detweiler.
