AHA Announces Fall 2010 Gold TPR Breeders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­ Eleven dedicated Hereford breeders achieved Gold TPRTM (Total Performance Records) status for fall 2010, according to the American Hereford Association (AHA).
      The Gold TPR Breeder recognition is presented to progressive Hereford breeders who have measured traits and collected and promptly submitted performance data at all levels of production.

Hereford Juniors Compete in 22 National Contests

KANSAS CITY – More than 650 youth and their families gathered at the 11th annual 2010 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July 4-10, to show and celebrate the Hereford breed. In addition to the cattle show, juniors and adults competed in 22 skill-based contests ranging from livestock judging to team fitting, and even a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

BuyHereford.com Auction Raises $20,765 for Hereford Research

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The first BuyHereford.com online fund-raising auction for the Hereford Research Foundation fetched more than $20,000 to benefit Hereford research projects July 13. Nineteen items were sold and more than 200 total bids were placed throughout the auction.

Gebhart Named Junior Hereford Herdsman of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— At the conclusion of the 2010 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) it was announced that Roxane Gebhart, Claremore, Okla., was voted by her peers to win this year’s Herdsman of the Year title and coveted belt buckle.

Buck, Sims Take Owned Polled Heifer Show Honors at Junior National Hereford Expo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— Bailey Buck, Madill, Okla., and her heifer NJW 78P 63N Ladysport 51W ET won the polled show at the 11th annual VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July 10. The reserve grand champion owned polled heifer banner went to Mark Sims, Elgin, Okla., with MCS 533P Lady 62R 801 ET.

McMillan, Compton Win Owned Horned Heifer Honors at Junior National Hereford Expo


KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— Lauren McMillan, Ohio, Ill., topped the 181-head horned owned heifer show at the 11th annual VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July10. The grand champion, RRR L18 Penelope 0509 ET, was bred by River Ridge Ranch & Cattle Co., Durand, Ill. The reserve grand champion, MSC Ramseys Sylvia Powerload, was bred and shown by Matthew Compton, Greenfield, Ind.

Day, Beck Grab Bred-and-Owned Female Titles at Junior National Hereford Expo

INDIANAPOLIS ­­­— Kirbie Day, Waxahachie, Texas, and her heifer KLD 3060 Penny D95 ET came out on top of the 166 exhibited in the bred-and-owned heifer show at the 2010 VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July 8. Cody Beck, Bainbridge, Ind., and BP CB Patsy Enuff 54W ET claimed the reserve champion title.

Sims, Owen Show Winning Junior National Hereford Expo Bulls

INDIANAPOLIS ­­­— Mark Sims, Elgin, Okla., exhibited the grand champion bred-and-owned bull and Randa Owen, Ft. Payne, Ala., showed the reserve champion at the 11th annual VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July 8.

Miller Family Wins Cow-Calf Show at Junior National Hereford Expo


INDIANAPOLIS ­­­— Clayton, Hayley and Jody Miller, Thorntown, Ind., showed the grand champion cow-calf pair at the 11th annual VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Indianapolis July 8.
 
Judge John Rayfield, College Station, Texas, picked Millers’ pair out of 34 pairs shown and said, “The cow-calf division is one of the best tools we have to teach these young people what production is all about. This was a great set of cattle.”
