AHA Announces 2011 Dams, Sires of Distinction; Number of qualifying cows up 17%
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For 2011, 2,285 Hereford cows from 707 Hereford performance herds in 44 states earned the honor of being named a Dam of Distinction by the American Hereford Association (AHA). The number of dams qualifying for this prestigious honor jumped 340 head since last year.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Okla., reigned victorious yet again in the Hereford carload show capturing win number 13 on lucky Friday the 13th during the 2012 National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver. Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, Idaho, topped the pen of three bull show for the second year in a row and Grandview/CMR, Como, Miss., won the pen of three female show in the Denver Yards.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hereford enthusiasts once again came together to support the youth Jan. 13 in the Beef Palace Auction Arena during the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Belle Point Ranch and the Dave and Mary Ann McMahon family of Ft. Smith, Ark., generously supported the Hereford Youth Foundation (HYFA) by purchasing the embryo package for $20,000. All of the proceeds go to HYFA.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hereford excitement abounded from the Yards to the Hill at the National Western Stock Show Jan. 12-14 in Denver. A total of 738 Herefords were exhibited throughout the three-day event, which is about 100 more than last year. There was 408 head in the open show, 133 in the junior show, 32 pens of bulls, 17 heifer pens and five carloads.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The support continued for Hereford research during the second online auction Nov. 8. Forty-two items were sold grossing $31,726. A portion of the proceeds was shared with the Hereford Youth Foundation of America, resulting in $26,350 directly benefiting Hereford research programs.
