Drought, record-high feed costs, changing consumer preferences and a growing global demand for protein have driven significant changes in the U.S. beef industry. With these trends in mind, the American Hereford Association (AHA) is planning a Hereford Genetic Summit Sept. 4-5 in Springfield, Mo., where Hereford enthusiasts can gather and engage in meaningful discussions about the industry, the inherent strengths and weaknesses of the Hereford breed, and the actions necessary to position the breed for continued growth.more
Eighty-nine dedicated Hereford breeders achieved Gold TPRTM (Total Performance Records) status for spring 2014, according to the American Hereford Association (AHA).
Also, the AHA has released the updated EPDs for spring 2014. The EPDs and the updated Trends, Traits and Distributions report is available online at Hereford.org.
The Gold TPR Breeder recognition is presented to progressive Hereford breeders who have measured traits and collected and promptly submitted performance data at all levels of production.more
