While the Junior National Hereford Expo promotes learning aspects of showing cattle and educational activities associated with relative contests, the NJHA's annual PRIDE (Program for Reaching Individuals Determined to Excel) Convention focuses on leadership development. Junior members, parents and advisors from all parts of the country participate in the event each year. During the three-day event, close to 100 participants listen to nationally known speakers and participate in junior board workshops, which assist in the enhancement of the individual's leadership talents, communication skills and beef-industry knowledge.
Typically PRIDE is held at land grant universities, however in 2008 the event traveled to Washington D.C., and participants got to experience our Nation’s capital.
In the past few years we have been to Idaho, Michigan State University and toured the great state of South Dakota in 2013.
The NJHA is excited to have the American Junior Maine-Anjou Association joining us in Colorado for our 2015 leadership event. This conference is offered to junior members ages 14-21. Intermediate and senior members will benefit the most from this leadership conference, if younger members wish to attend, we ask that a parent or guardian accompany them on the trip.
